Michael J. Sievert, M.D., BC-Child, Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist

"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

I Corinthians, 13:4-8

As Paul says to the Corinthians, love is the most compelling, enduring and powerful force we can know. With love as the basis for our relationships, all things will be manageable. Through love for our fellow humans, we can overcome anything, just as God’s love for humanity even overcame death.

Dr. Michael Sievert rejoined Christian Counseling Professionals in 2006. He is board certified in General Psychiatry as well as Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1981, and completed his residency in psychiatry in 1985 and a child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship in 1987, both at the University of New Mexico Hospitals.

After his fellowship he lived in Montana for two years, where he was the Medical Director for Child and Adolescent Services in Billings, as well as serving as a consultant to the Rimrock Foundation chemical dependency center, Yellowstone Treatment Center residential treatment program for boys and girls, and to the Indian Health Service at Crow Agency and Fort Belknap. He returned to New Mexico in 1989 and has provided both inpatient and outpatient services at Presbyterian Hospital as well as Charter Heights Psychiatric Hospital, as well as psychiatric consultant to Rehoboth McKinley Hospital in Gallup, NM.

Currently he serves as the Medical Director for Behavioral Health at Presbyterian Health Plan, is an attending psychiatrist at Presbyterian Kaseman Child and Adolescent Treatment Unit and does psychiatric consultation at Family Therapy of Albuquerque.

Dr. Sievert’s interests are psychiatric evaluation and consultation, pharmacotherapy and a team based systems approach to healthcare. He treats children, adolescents and adults.
