Through different twists and turns in my life, I discovered how much I deeply enjoy caring for and helping others. My life has not always gone as I have planned, but the Lord has used each moment to shape and mold me into the person He wants me to become. He has opened unexpected doors and drawn me closer to Him. I consider it such an honor and gift to be invited into the journey of people’s lives and to be able to sit with someone in their moments of deepest joy and/or deepest sorrow.
After receiving my Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Whitworth College in Spokane, Washington, I realized that I was much more interested in mentoring and counseling others rather than the business world. Eventually, I pursued my Masters in College Student Development from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California for I am really passionate about working with college students and young adults. Prior to moving to New Mexico, I worked at two different Christian colleges mentoring, training and supporting college students. When I moved to Albuquerque, I decided to pursue my Masters in Counseling so I could further my skills and work in the counseling field. I received my Masters in Counseling from Webster University here in Albuquerque.
I strongly believe in meeting clients at their comfort level and adapting counseling treatment and goals to the specific needs of each client. I work with individual clients ages 13-64. One of the areas that I specialize in is eating disorders. While working in the college field, I mentored and prayed with many young women struggling with body image issues. I designed campus programs to create awareness and support for students. In graduate school, I did one of my internships working solely with clients with eating disorders and assisted with the Eating Disorder Support Group at UNM. As well as working with eating disorders, I also work with clients struggling with depression, anxiety and relationship issues.
I live with my husband, daughter and dog and am an active member of my church here in Albuquerque. |
